Services for the Blind, The Essence of Vision: Luncheon and Style
Show was held at the Pleasant Valley Country Club on April 23rd. The
event netted an estimated $37,000 for the Independent Living Skills for
Elderly Program, which offers scholarships to Arkansans 55 years or older
who have vision loss due to the aging process. The scholarships cover one
month of intensive training at Lions World Services for the Blind. The
training teaches individuals independent living skills, which are needed to
adjust to and cope with blindness. Masters of Ceremonies were Scott Landers
and Steve Landers Jr., and Steve Landers Sr., president of RLJ McLarty
Landers Auto Group, was the guest speaker. Fashions for the style show
were provided by B. Barnett.
