ince the spring of 2000, the Alzheimer’s Arkansas Auxiliary Volunteers
have hosted an annual art auction and dinner, including
100 pieces of wall art, pottery, glass, jewelry and sculpture. The first
Art to Remember event was held in the fall of 1997, through the generosity
of the “Friends of Johnson Baker.” Dr. Johnson Baker was diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s in his early 50s and decided to take advantage
of a long held interest to study art. His wife, Karen helped establish
the program in his honor and remains active today. This year’s event
raised almost $76,000 for the Alzheimer’s Arkansas Family Assistance
Program.
